Defining Pregnancy Letter by Letter

R is for Rational Rainbows

When you first found out you were pregnant, do you remember how the reality of it hit you? Was your range of emotion rational, was it radical as you contemplated the ramifications of the news? Being the recipient of the news, here are a few things to remember. You may feel lots of emotions, all of the are reasonable. One moment you will feel radiant and the next ragged as you see the radius of your growing baby bump. The ramblings of your mind are a reality, there are lots of hormonal changes taking place. Reconcile yourself to radical changes in your body and mind. Some days you will feel energized, reckless and want to race around shopping for red maternity clothes or ready your house for the coming event. Other days, your body will require lots of rest and relaxation from the rigors of your daily routine. You may feel ridiculous as you see the racing changes in your body and wonder if there is any relief from the kicking your ribs are receiving. As you grow more rotund, remember to rely on relatives to help with anything you require. Rally your relatives and let them bring you raspberries, roses and shower you with random gifts of assistance. Don't be too proud to ask for relief and any remedies your relatives may offer. This includes rubbing your back or feet, you deserve to be treated like royalty! Read everything on pregnancy and parenting and recruit all your friends for advice. You may feel a little rusty if there have been long periods between children. Redouble your efforts and resolve to raise your child with lots of love, and a rabbit. This little roommate with rosebud lips will need to be read lots of nursery rhymes, and rocked endlessly, so have a luxurious rocker that your rear will revel in. Rapport with your doctor is so important, there must be mutual respect and trust. That is the best recipe for wrestling your little rascal into this world. With your doctor at your side you will reap the benefits of a perfect delivery. Be prepared to experience joy that is over the rainbow, when your little ragamuffin arrives. Be ready for lots of rattles and racket. Remember to journal all through the nine months of pregnancy, read, rest and rejuvenate daily Rejoice in each day and each day will reveal how truly rich you are.
