Pregancy Tips for the Holidays
hanksgiving is the kickoff celebration to the holidays. It's a great time to reflect on our blessings, get together with family and friends and enjoy a good meal. There's lots of baking going on, the traditional meal always includes homemade dinner rolls and pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving is also one of the biggest travel holidays of the year.
Here are a few holiday tips to keep your little bun in the oven safe during the holidays. If you are traveling any distance in the car be sure to get out of the car every hour or so and stretch your legs and do a little walking. You will feel better getting a little exercise with deep breathing and it will increase circulation for you and the little bun.
The next tip is a good one to keep in mind all through the pregnancy and the holidays. Hydrate often, drink lots of water. Most pregnant women limit caffeine and alcohol during the pregnancy but forget to drink enough water. Keep a bottle by your side and sip often.
Maternity clothes should be comfortable for travel. Fabrics should be soft and shoes comfortable especially if you are in a rainy, snowy climate. Keep your balance and watch for slick or uneven walkways. If you are comfortable so is your baby.
Thanksgiving is a mellow holiday, a day to reflect and count all our blessings. And then, of course, comes Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year. The countdown to Christmas, with all the frenzy and expectations the holiday holds. There's obligatory shopping, baking, wrapping and more shopping. Cards to address, friends to see and parties to attend. At this magical time of year, it's easy to forget the most important tip of all. Rest, rest and more rest. You and your little bun won't run on the magic of the season very long without a good night of sleep and a catnap or two squeezed in before the evening festivities. Be sure to get enough rest and you will be the calm and collected throughout the holidays.
Being pregnant is a wonder in itself at any time of year, a joy and a responsibility. At this time of year it is important that the soon- to- be Mommy's take extra care to give consideration to their little bun in the oven. We are all so proud of what we bake during the holidays, baking is an expression of love. Something created by us to share with others. How much more so, when we are creating new life to share with the world.
Happy Holidays!
